Indonesia Destination Guides > West Java Indonesia : West Java
West Java West Java Province has now been divided into two provinces, namely West Java and Banten. The capital of West Java, Bandung, is Indonesia’s third largest city. The region is mountainous and rich with natural attractions such as hot springs, forests and beaches. Much of the region is wooded.
Bandung is also known as the Paris of Java because of its European ambiance and sophistication. It also hosted the historical Asia Africa conference in 1955.
The capital city, Bandung, is now a center of higher education, commerce and aircraft industry. Bandung still retains much of the charm inherited from its colonial era, despite modern amenities and shopping centers that house factory outlets for T-shirts and other clothing and textiles including denim. |
